The Ambassador of the United Republic of Tanzania to the Kingdom of Sweden, His Excellency Mobhare Matinyi, presented his Letters of Credence to His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf at a ceremony held on 12 June, 2025, at the Royal Palace in Stockholm.

Following a brief session at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Sweden, a ceremonial mounted guard accompanied Ambassador Matinyi to the palace where he presented his credentials to His Majesty The King, formally accrediting him as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Republic of Tanzania to the Kingdom of Sweden.

During his brief conversation with King Carl XVI Gustaf, Ambassador Matinyi conveyed Her Excellency President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s cordial regards to His Majesty The King, the government and the people of Sweden.

Ambassador Matinyi also relayed to His Majesty The King, Tanzania’s desire to maintain and strengthen the cordial diplomatic relations between the two countries, as well as the intent to enhance cooperation in economic diplomacy, particularly in investment, trade, tourism, education and technical skills, health, energy, infrastructure, and climate change mitigation.

King Carl XVI Gustaf conveyed his brotherly and friendly regards to Her Excellency Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, and reiterated that Sweden would continue to collaborate with Tanzania for the mutual benefit of both countries, especially in developing the vital sectors of manufacturing, energy, mining, tourism and education.

Her Excellency President Samia appointed Ambassador Matinyi to represent Tanzania to Sweden on 25 March, 2025, from where he will also represents Tanzania to the remaining Nordic countries namely Denmark, Finland, Iceland and Norway, the three Baltic states of Latvia, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania as well as Ukraine.
