The recent comments over the results of the Zambian general election which ended the two ruling terms of Edgar Lungu, the then President of Zambia, have brought mixed reactions among neighboring countries including in Tanzania.
While political analysts have taken sides, one group sees that the Zambian Patriotic Front government had something to learn from neighboring Tanzania before its collapse while the other side has reminded the ruling Tanzanian Chama cha Mapinduzi to take the Zambian general election results as a walk-up call.
THE NOTION OF A WEAK STATE, STATE FAILURE, AND STATE COLLAPSE.
Motivated Nation leaders exist to operate methods of delivering the socio-economical and political needs of their citizens within geographical boundaries by answering the critical interests being that emerging onway or those already known since then.
A strong state always performs well across major economic, political, and social angles while a weak state display a mixed profile by temporarily fulfilling promises in some areas and today’s while performing badly in others angles tomorrow.” inconsistency”.To me, it is not the absolute level. of the intensity of violence that characterizes the weak state rather it is the level of inability to manage top nation issues, dismissing public concerns, top-down leadership are the indicators of a weak state and consequently state failure!
Another critical indicator of a weak state is the use of oppressive machinery to its opposers! In this situation, for protection purposes, citizens naturally start to believe strong figures within a Political Party system who express ethical practices and claim solidarity.
It should be noted that the road to nation-state failure is a series of top leadership mistakes committed day by day! These mistakes are of omissive meaning dismissing Nation best practices or commissioned meaning initiation of a new non-beneficial “projects” at public expense!
State failure is largely man-made rather than accidental and normally came due to leadership supervisory failure” watchdog roles” between a ruling party against the ruling government and vice versa!
THE COLLAPSE OF LUNGU’s RULING PARTY WAS A MAN-MADE MISTAKES.
1.According to the Conference of Catholic Bishops, one of the most influential bodies in Zambia, noted that the politicization of the Police Force by ruling the Patriotic Front under Edgar Lungu as resulted in a violation of citizen’s rights, and the media has became entrapped in a “Culture of Silence”.They added that several baseless political allegations were directed to the newly elected Zambian President.
2.There was a point at a time where Ex-President Edgar Lungu argued that he should be allowed to have a third Presidential term because his first period was just serving out of the final year of Michael Sata’s term following his untimely death in Office! Since then some of the ruling Patriotic Front have rallied behind the President! Policy uncertainty in the crucial mining sector has, together with the low copper price and increase of national debts have left Zambian in deep poverty.
WHY RULING PATRIOTIC FRONT OF ZAMBIA HAD TO LEARN FROM THE RE-BRANDED CCM OF TANZANIA?
Tanzania is often seen as a beacon of peace and stability in East Africa block! Since then in history, Tanzania is building a sense of national unity,a free corruption society, human dignity under the ruling Party CCM, and the Party has been re-branding according to local and international demands.
Since he took office in March 2021, President Samia Suluhu Hassan proves to be the right sort of politician to usher in a new era of bipartisan politics with no authoritarianism and more of a collegial approach. Her approach has been praised even by oppositions and many people from different categories!
1.According to the Citizen Newspaper of June 28, 2021, was quoting the Tanzanian Human Rights Defender Coalition” THRDC” National Coordinator Mr. Onesmo, saying President Samia’s government have exhibited her intention to protect human rights and rule of law.
2.According to the Daily News Paper of April 23, 2021, which quoted the President’s strong warning against corruption and misuse of public office stressing that everything is under watch!”…..we cannot in any way be taken back to the old dark days….the President warned!
3.On March 28, 2021, the President ordered the Tanzania Corruption Prevention Bureau” PCCCB” to drop all corruption baseless cases which went hand in hand with the arrest of the then “HAI DC” and CCM’s young Icon Lengai Ole Sabaya for the Officer misuse!
Tanzania and ruling Chama cha Mapinduzi will continue to be the best place for political orientation by its neighbors as it uses to do before”Yuweri Museveni,Joseph Kabila,Samora Mishel,..e.t.c”.
