From the 17th to the 20th of October, the Italian Language Week was held in Tanzania which this year, with the theme of “Italians and Youth” really attracted this audience. Tanzania, as it is known, has a median age of 18 years and registers a population growth rate of 3% per year. In this context of great life, the Italian Embassy in Dar es Salaam is privileged to present Italy, its culture and its language in universities and schools.

In this regard, we remember the event of the donation of Geronimo Stilton’s books “Journey to the Discovery of Italy. 1000 Wonders” at the International School of Tanganyika, whose school library is the most important in Tanzania and that of the translation of the Divine Comedy. in Kiswahili.

The highlight was the launch at the residence of Ambassador Marco Lombardi of the Dante Alighieri Society in Tanzania. In fact, there is continuing to register a growing interest in Italian from fellow citizens living in Tanzania who need language courses for their children, and from Tanzanians, who, due to the return of an important flow of tourists from our country, look at Italian as an opportunity.

Professor Federico Santi and Professor Francesca Chinappi of the Sapienza University of Rome, also in close contact with Dante Alighieri Rome, were instructed by the first Parliament of DA Tanzania to collect a sufficient number of attachments to enable it to work and later continue. and special registration with competent local bodies. Neema Nyerere, the grandson of the founder of Tanzania and a great friend of Italy, accepted the honorary presidency of the Dante Alighieri Foundation in Tanzania. Ambassador Marco Lombardi, in congratulating the program, emphasized the full support of the Italian system for Dante Alighieri in Tanzania, reminding that, without effective cultural exchanges, there can be no lasting economic cooperation.
