Our Foreign Minister, Hon Mulamula is totally mistaken on this issue of dual citizenship. Our country’s best option is to grant Tanzanians holding foreigner passports special status.
The crucial issue here is land. Tanzania is surrounded by many countries with extreme land hunger. And we cannot allow our people to take up citizenship of other countries without reciprocation.
People in Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, for example, are constantly at each others throats not because of tribalism but land. A fight for land. So allow dual citizenship in Tanzania then soon the constant civil wars that we see in those countries will be at our door step.
Tanzania should avoid cheap politics of introducing policies not for the long-term benefit to the nation but to please a few people in the short-term – that is very poor politics.
In five years Dr. Magufuli delivered more services and projects to the country than any other leader since independence. And there was no contribution of the Diaspora. So, the economic contribution of the Diaspora should not be over-stated. That country can flourish fully with or without the Diaspora.

Siasa kamwe haitakuwa imara; uchumi kamwe hautakuwa imara kwa sababu tu eti tumekumbatia uraia pacha.
